Bus Stop Book Swap

The Bus Stop Book Swap is a tiny, always-open library at the Orchard Lane bus stop in East Hendred. Take a book, leave a book, or both — it's entirely free and runs on trust and the generosity of the community.

The shelves cover everything from children's picture books to novels, cookbooks and the odd surprise. It's restocked regularly by volunteers and by readers passing through who want to pass on a book they've enjoyed.

It's one of the simplest HEG projects, but also one of the most loved — a small way of sharing stories, reducing waste, and giving the bus stop a bit of community spirit while you wait.
